''Poverty is the worst form of violence''
Ghandi

a clip from Ian Bone's website last night; http://ianbone.wordpress.com/

''The whole of Tottenham Hale retail park has been comprehensively looted inc. car phone warehouse/matalan/JD Sports. No cops anywhere as 600 shop wihout money. Cops tied down in Tottenham leaving Wood green Shopping City unprotected. Just had report three northern ireland style armoured police vans sen on streets. Cops have lost it – they are going to get an incredible amount of shit for leaving areas unprotected. No credible reports of rioting elsewhre. This is big. Tomorrow will be vital as to whether a one off or a re-run of 1981. Rioting and looting still in full swing – thousands on the streets. This is fucking really bignow what did I say about that long deep sleep! TV news is so way behind on this one. Allied carpets burned down. Trolley loads of looted computers/plasma screens being wheeled away.''

''Various sources say 200 riot police and the Met's Territorial Support Group have been deployed to meet the protest. It will be worth watching to see how the police handle the situation, particularly as this situation has arisen in response to police violence. Only four months after the battle of Stokescroft, and thirty years after riots hit Brixton, Handsworth, Chapeltown, and Toxteth, this event has a clear significance amidst rising social tensions across Britain.''

''An unjust law is itself a species of violence. Arrest for its breach is more so. ''
Ghandi

There was a very strong and articulate message from Symeon Brown (a black youth worker in Tottenham) talking to the BBC this morning among the bebris and wreckage of burnt-out cars and gutted shop fronts.

Reminding the BBC of the police murder of Tottenham's Cynthia Jarrett in '85, he suggested...

''you underestimate the power of collective memory''

adding,

''......we withdraw our consent of the police force.''

''Anyone who makes plans for after the revolution is a reactionary”          Bakunin

''It is not only government in the sense of the state which is destructive of every individual
value and quality. It is the whole complex of authority and institutional domination which
strangles
life."

Emma Goldman

The BBC braces us for an imminent live speech from a senior member of the police force. Funny, I didnt think we had any at the moment........
